Consultation

An aesthetic consultation is the foundation of safe, effective, and natural-looking results. It is not simply a discussion about treatments, but a comprehensive assessment designed to understand your concerns, facial anatomy, skin health, and goals.

At Wrinkless Medical Aesthetics Clinic, all consultations are doctor-led and carried out by Dr Carol Mastropierro, ensuring a medical, personalised, and thoughtful approach from the very first appointment.

What happens during an aesthetic consultation?

Your consultation is unhurried and tailored to you. It typically includes the following steps:

  • Understanding your concerns and goals

The consultation begins with a discussion about what has brought you in and what you would like to improve or maintain. Some patients arrive with a specific concern, while others simply feel they look tired or notice subtle changes over time.

There is no judgement and no pressure to proceed with treatment. The aim is to understand your expectations and ensure they are realistic and achievable.

  • Review of your medical form

You will be asked to complete a comprehensive medical form before your appointment. This will ask about your health, medication, allergies, dental history, previous aesthetic procedures and any events or plans. This is essential to assess your suitability for treatment and screen any potential complications that could arise after your treatment.

  • Facial assessment and anatomy-led analysis

A detailed facial assessment is then carried out, both at rest and in movement. This allows evaluation of:

  • facial proportions and symmetry
  • muscle activity and expression patterns
  • skin quality, texture, and hydration
  • early versus established signs of ageing

Ageing rarely affects just one area, so this step is essential to avoid isolated or overcorrected treatments.

  • Skin health and lifestyle factors

Skin quality plays a significant role in how the face ages. During your consultation, factors such as skincare routine, sun exposure, medical history, lifestyle, and previous treatments are reviewed. If advice on skincare is desired, an Observ skin scanner will take place to best identify skin concerns, as where appropriate, non-injectable options or skin-focused treatments may be discussed alongside or instead of injectables.

  • Discussing suitable treatment options

Based on the assessment, appropriate treatment options are explained clearly, including:

  • what each treatment can and cannot achieve
  • whether treatment is needed now or can be deferred
  • alternative or complementary options

This may include injectables, skin treatments, or a combination approach — or, in some cases, reassurance that no treatment is required at this stage.

  • Creating a personalised treatment plan

If treatment is appropriate, a personalised plan is created that considers:

  • your facial anatomy and ageing pattern
  • your preferences and comfort level
  • short-term goals and long-term skin health

Some patients proceed with treatment on the same day, while others prefer time to reflect. Both options are completely acceptable.

Do I have to have treatment at my consultation?

No. A consultation does not obligate you to proceed with treatment.

Many patients attend simply to gain clarity, understand their options, or plan treatment for the future. At Wrinkless, recommendations are made only when appropriate and never based on pressure or sales targets.
